Art Sign Company was founded in 1948 as a partnership, consisting of, Edwin "Ed" Patterson and Frank Cummins.
 
The first shop, in 1948, consisted of a "large drawing board" located in the rear of a print shop. It was located at ?? Central Ave. That location has been replaced with The F & M Trust Drive-In on LWE (downtown).
 
In 1950, Art Sign Co. moved to the rear of 115 N. Main St. We remained there until 1954, when we moved to 254 E. King St., located in the NW corner of the "Public Opinion" property. At that time, 1954, my partner moved on to other interests in the publishing field. I became sole proprietor of Art Sign Co. The King St property was acquired by the "Public Opinion" about 1960.
 
In 1960 we purchased a lot at 470 Nelson St., our present location. In 1970, a two-story addition was added to the rear of the original building. And, about 1982 a property and existing building, located on the West side of the original building was purchased, completing our current location.
